I am the Vice Commander of the American Legion Department of Montana. I used to belong when I lived in Edmonton. We here at Post CN20 in Calgary have a close affiliation with the CVVAC as most of our members were Vietnam Veterans.

Admin reply: Thank you for signing our guestbook.

Admin reply: Thank you Lamont for commenting on the Canadians who fought side by side with our American friends. Yes, our cause was just in fighting Communism in South East Asia. Many of us Canadian Vietnam Veterans in Manitoba are members of the VVA Chapter 374.

What a great site to inform the younger generation on the aspect of Canadians the war in Vietnam.

I am proud I went, but distressed by the men Canada and the US lost.
We were all young and looking for adventure and not always ready for what we found in war.
We sure grew up fast and realized that we weren't as indestructible as we thought.
Some nights I still awake in a cold sweat to find the terror in my dreams of things I would like to forget.
I get teary when I hear taps or hear "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"

Admin reply: Thank you David for signing our guestbook and welcome home! We can relate to what you're still going through pertaining to the Vietnam War. I believe we're all proud to have served in the US Armed Forces even though it may have been hell at times.

Interesting. Very few realize how many Canadians served in Vietnam.

Admin reply: Hi Patrick, thank you for your comment and for signing our guestbook.

With the continuing efforts of the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association, notably Rob Purvis and Ron Parkes, we are making huge progress in getting the word out to Canadians and Americans alike of the sacrifices some of us have made in fighting in the Vietnam War while serving with the U.S. Armed Forces. We are very proud to have fought side by side with our American friends, one of Canada's greatest ally.
